The settings include Yoshihara, an old red-light district, The Pavilion of Zenigata-Heiji, a famous detective in the Edo-era (1600-1867), and the quarters of the Shinsengumi, a group of masterless samurai who policed Kyoto to protect the Tokugawa Shogun in the Edo-era.
