After a relaxing arrival, the second day of the tour kicks off with a leisurely and educational bike ride around the city led by The RitzCarlton’s Guest Activity team, who are there to guide you along a preset route and provide historical insights at every stop. Kyoto’s relatively quiet streets are ideal for cycling, and the sightseeing tour includes stops at famous landmarks such as the photogenic Fushimi Inari, best known for its thousands of torii gates. The day ends with dinner at Monk, where chef Yoshihiro Imai serves sumptuous meals of ingredients foraged or sourced from the mountains of Ohara and the markets of Kyoto.

After a private guided walking tour of Arashiyama, relax and unwind at Suiran Spa, a tranquil sanctuary of time-honored healing rituals. The fourth day of the tour begins with a private and guided early morning stroll around the picturesque Arashiyama area, where the colors of the forests can go from a deep and lush green in the spring and all kinds of vibrant reds in the fall. After the meditative stroll, a chauffeur will drive you up the up the mountains for a glorious lunch at the two-Michelin starred restaurant Miyamasou, at a centuries-old ryokan of the same time. Situated by a gurgling brook, Miyamasou, which originally served pilgrims on their way to nearby Daihizan Bujoji temple, is run by fourth-generation owner Hisato Nakagihashi, who leads a team in foraging for fresh ingredients every day. After lunch, the chauffeur will take you back to Suiran, where you can enjoy a relaxing soak at the open-air hot spring in your own quarters.

After breakfast, enjoy another private guided early morning stroll of beautiful Arashiyama. After the stroll, a chauffeur will drive you to the quaint mountain village of Kibune, where you will enjoy lunch at Kyou Kibune Hiroya. The restaurant offers two seasonal dining experiences – an alfresco setup called kawadoko in the summer so guests can enjoy the sun and the forest-cooled breeze while dining on a platform by the riverbed; and an indoor setup with dramatic views of the mountains through a screen during the colder season. After lunch, the chauffeur will take you to the Hyatt Regency Kyoto for a restful sleep.

After a fitful sleep, enjoy a day of hiking and forest bathing in the mountains of northern Kyoto, blanketed by forests of towering cedar and pine. The private, guided hike will take you from the town of Kibune , along trails that cut through cool wooded areas and mountainsides. Along the hiking trail, there will be plenty to see, including quaint homes, quiet shrines and gorgeous vistas. The route will take you all the way to Kurama, another small rural town where the main attraction is the Buddhist Temple Kurama-dera, known for its hot spring. Post-hike, relax and unwind with a soothing hinoki bath at Hyatt Regency Kyoto’s Riraku spa.
