Philosopher’s Path & Okazaki

This area is located northeast from the downtown of Kyoto. It is at the base of Mt. Nyoigatake, where a famous mountain bonfire event is held in the summer.
It is known as the core cultural district of Kyoto because it has beautiful temples and shrines, as well as a zoo, museums, and theaters. The district is also near Kyoto University, which has produced a great number of Nobel Prize winners.

Take a memorable photo as you stroll along Suirokaku, designated a Heritage of Industrial Modernization, and the historical temple landscape at Nanzen-ji Temple.
In spring, try Okazaki Jikkokubune boat riding. It takes approximately 25 minutes for a round 3-kilometer cruise trip. A reservation is recommended. Have dinner at an authentic Japanese restaurant and enjoy tofu cuisine or a full course kaiseki meal.
