Kyoto City Tourism Association (DMO KYOTO)

Kyoto City Tourism Association (DMO KYOTO) is a public organization with aims such as attracting foreign travelers to Kyoto. It currently comprises over 1,600 member companies and organizations.

In cooperation with the city government and related industry groups, DMO KYOTO actively promotes Kyoto tourism through the development of strategic business alliances and initiatives, as well as the provision of tourism information.

DMO KYOTO also regularly attends international travel industry fairs and seminars, participates in conferences with travel agents and tour operators, and provides a variety of resources and support services for local and international media representatives.

DMO KYOTO’s mission is to promote sustainable travel and tourism opportunities throughout the city. In doing so, we aim to connect visitors and the local community to Kyoto's true essence, enriching lives and enhancing its image as one of the world’s leading cultural cities.

DMO KYOTO works closely with the Japan Tourism Agency (JTA), the Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO), and seven Kyoto City Overseas Representative Offices to promote Kyoto internationally.

Key Projects and Initiatives

The Kyoto City Tourism Association currently has four key initiatives, each with its own mission, purpose, and goals. We are working on a wide range of campaigns to further promote tourism in Kyoto.

  • Supporting data collection and human resource development

  • Providing information and tour guides

  • Creating sustainable tourist destinations

  • Preserving culture and tradition through tourism

What We Do

Kyoto is one of the world's leading tourist destinations and a city where cutting-edge services are born. At the same time, it is also a city that faces new challenges. In order to overcome these challenges and seize the opportunities found in Kyoto tourism, we are carrying out numerous projects with the cooperation of our partners.

Statistics and Data

We aim to help tourism grow as an industry by providing useful information and management support to tour operators and workers for the development of their businesses.

We continuously collect data on the Kyoto tourism market, as well as work to visualize and analyze it.
