The Fushimi area is known around the world for the Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, but it is only part of the area’s attraction. Only 10 to 20 minutes by Keihan train from the center of Kyoto City, there are many places to see and enjoy in winter in Fushimi.

There are more than 20 sake breweries within a 3-kilometer radius in Fushimi. In the vicinity of Fushimi Momoyama Station, there are restaurants directly operated by the breweries, where you can enjoy rare, limited-edition sake and dishes that go well with sake.

Kyoto is one of Japan’s leading ramen areas. Especially around Fujinomori Station and Fushimi Momoyama Station, more than a dozen ramen places are concentrated, each offering a wide variety of ramen. Most of the menus are reasonably priced at less than 1,000 yen.

Cherry blossoms in Kyoto bloom from late March to early April, but in the Yodo area of Fushimi, early-blooming “Kawazu-zakura” cherry trees begin blooming in early February and can be enjoyed for a long period until mid-March.

“Chiikawa” is one of the most popular anime characters in Japan today. There are two stores in Kyoto, one of which is “Chiikawa Mogu Mogu Honpo,” located just a minute walk from Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine. The Kyoto Fushimi store sells many original goods, including limited editions.
