Getting Around Kyoto

Comfortable access to Katsura / Oharano

To reach Kyoto’s sightseeing spots, it is quick and comfortable to first take a train, then change to a bus if necessary, or walk to your destination. Check out the recommended routes and whether coin lockers are available to make your trip a smooth one!

■Access from Kyoto Station
Using a combination of the subway and Hankyu Railway is convenient. First, take the subway Karasuma line to Shijo Station. The ride takes about 4 minutes. After exiting the ticket gates of Shijo Station, head for the Hankyu Karasuma Station, which is connected to the station by an underground passageway. After transferring to a train bound for Osaka, it takes about 8 minutes to reach Katsura Station, the base of the Rakusei area. All trains stop at Katsura Station.

Direct access by bus from Kyoto Station takes longer.

■Access from Shijo Kawaramachi (Kyoto Kawaramachi Station)
Take a train bound for Osaka from Kyoto Kawaramachi Station on the Hankyu Railway, and you will arrive at Katsura Station in about 10 minutes.
