■Access from Kyoto Station
We recommend using the Subway Karasuma Line. A 4-minute ride will take you to Shijo Station. From Shijo Station, go to the ground level and walk east on Shijo-dori Street for about 5 minutes. When you reach Daimaru department Kyoto store, turn left north on Takakura-dori Street, and one block ahead is Nishikikoji-dori Street, which is the entrance. From here, the arcade of Nishiki Market extends eastward.

Taking a city bus to the city center is not recommended due to congestion at the stops, on the bus, and on the roads.

■Access from Shijo Kawaramachi
It’s right nearby. From the Shijo Kawaramachi intersection, walk west along the Shijo-dori Street and turn right at Shinkyogoku Shopping Street. This area is an arcade street and is a fun area for shopping. If you continue walking one block north along the Shinkyogoku Shopping Street, you will see a shrine called Nishiki Tenmangu Shrine. Starting from there, Nishiki Market begins towards the west.
