Good evening! Miyamaguchi here.

Not many people know, but we at Digistyle Kyoto are actually part of the printing company TAIHEI Printing.
Our team has long been refining and perfecting our printing technology for alcoholic drink labels.

This time, I’m reporting on a visit our label and package consultant Fukuda and I made to Kyoto Brewing Co., a craft beer maker in Kyoto and our latest label customer!

Kyoto Brewing Co. was founded in 2015 by Benjamin Falck from Wales, Chris Hainge from the US and Paul Speed from Canada.

Japan has a world-class artisanal history and tradition, and the city of Kyoto is particularly discerning when it comes to quality and taste. And it is here that the three friends began brewing complex and elaborate beer.

We were shown around by Paul, one of the founders and representative director!
Paul was looking online for a company in Kyoto that specialized in label printing and stumbled across TAIHEI Printing.
What a lucky encounter!

And here we are holding two brand new products!
I can’t wait to tell you about them.

*The outdoor area in front of the brewery is for eating and drinking, and business is operating with proper measures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Bottled beer is usually only for takeout sales, but a special exception was made to let us taste-test outside just for this article.

First up, Blank Revival!

This beer is a faithful reproduction of the historical and traditional Wiess-style beer from Cologne. While no longer made in its native Germany, it has been given a second lease on life here.

And the name “Blank Revival” could not be more apt.

The wheat base gives it an impressively simple and refreshing taste, making it a great choice for those who don’t like strong, bitter beers.

Incidentally, the label has been specially made so it stays on, even when the bottle is icy cold and covered in condensation.

And then there’s this: 6-Day Weekend.

“6-Day Weekend,” what a great name!

This is a low-alcohol beer with an alcohol content of 4.5%. With a tropical taste from the citrusy hops, it is a brew you won’t tire of even if you drink it six days a week, hence the name!

Its fruity flavor would go well with food and it could easily become your daily drop.
The rest of the lineup also have catchy names and I find myself drawn to them all.

Paul tells us that once the concept and target taste of a new product is settled upon, the staff all pitch in to come up with a name.

It can be hard deciding which beer to have, so why not choose based on the name and label design!

The back of each label has some information about the characteristics of the beer and a QR code.

Scan the code to visit the online shop and treat yourself to a few bottles!

You can also pick up some bottles of beer is store, and we recommend getting them in this reusable takeout bag.

It’s perfect for six bottles.

And it’s very stylish.

Plus you get a special 100 yen discount on every six bottles when you use this bag!
It’s very popular with many customers using these bags every time they come and buy beer.

Definitely get yourself one if you want to enjoy some Kyoto Brewing Co. brews at home!
