NAKED Summer Evening Cool World Heritage Site Kamigamo Jinja Shrine
NAKED Summer Evening Cool World Heritage Site Kamigamo Jinja Shrine is an exceptional event in which you can spend the magical hours between sunset and twilight in Kamigamo-jinja Shrine, one of Kyoto’s oldest shrines, when it is usually closed.
Visitors will pick up their own NAKED “distance” lanterns at the Ichi-no-torii Gate, Kamigamo-jinja Shrine’s iconic vermillion gate, and walk into the shrine where Tanabata oranaments are decorated and the Romon Gate (Registered Important Cultural Property) is illuminated, making it a very special summer night at the shrine.

We have prepared a Special Summer Shuttle Service to experience “NAKED Summer Evening Cool World Heritage Site Kamigamo Jinja Shrine”.
It directly connects Kyoto Station to Kamigamo jinja Shrine so you do not need to worry about transportation at all.

6:45pm Arrive at Kamigamo jinja Shrine
(Approximately 1 hour to enjoy the event)

About NAKED GARDEN ONE KYOTO 2023
The art project of NAKED, INC. offers a whole new experience of Kyoto in both real and virtual ways with the people who are creators of traditions and cultures, and famous sites of Kyoto in collaboration with the City of Kyoto, City of Uji, Kyoto Prefecture and the City of Otsu, Shiga Prefecture. Every summer, autumn and winter, a theme to best enjoy the season is chosen.
This summer’s theme is “entertainment” and begins at the main entrance that Kyoto welcomes visitors from around the world, JR Kyoto Station, followed by a grand projection mapping of fireworks on Nijo-jo Castle featuring a “summer festival.”
The project will also be held at places great to enjoy the wonders of summer in Kyoto like Kamigamo Shrine where participants can dip their feet in the sacred stream “Nara no Ogawa” and at Koshoji Temple in Uji where the tunnel of green maples on the Kotosaka slope will be illuminated.
