To reach Kyoto's sightseeing spots, it is quick and comfortable to first take a train, then change to a bus if necessary, or walk to your destination. Check out the recommended routes and whether coin lockers are available to make your trip a smooth one!
Ohara (including Yase)
■Access from Kyoto Station
Take the Subway Karasuma Line to the last stop, Kokusaikaikan (Kyoto International Conference Center) Station. It's about a 20 minute ride. Go to the ground level of Kokusaikaikan (Kyoto International Conference Center) Station and transfer to Kyoto Bus No. 19.
[When heading to Ohara]
Ride to the last stop. The time varies slightly, but the ride takes about 56 minutes from Kyoto Station.
[When heading to Yase]
Get off at the bus stop in front of Yase Station. It takes about 44 minutes from Kyoto Station.
Ohara/Yase is located in the mountainous area northeast of Kyoto City. Buses start from Kyoto Station, but it takes a lot of time to get there by bus.
■Access from Shijo Kawaramachi (Keihan Gion-shijo Station)

Take the Keihan Railway to Demachiyanagi, the last stop on the northbound line. It takes about 7 minutes to arrive. Once above ground at Demachiyanagi Station, take Kyoto Bus No. 17 to Ohara, the last stop.
It takes about 33 minutes from Demachiyanagi to Ohara, depending on traffic conditions.
[When heading to Yase]
Take the Keihan Railway to the final stop, Demachiyanagi Station.
From Demachiyanagi Station, transfer to the Eizan Main Line (Eiden) of the Eizan Railway and ride to the final stop, Yase-Hieizanguchi Station. The Eizan Railway train station is located above ground.
There is also a direct bus service from Shijo Kawaramachi, but it is not recommended due to the unpredictable time.
