■Access from Kyoto Station
To go from Kyoto Station to the Golden Pavilion, it is recommended to use a route combining the subway and a bus.
From Kyoto Station, first take the Subway Karasuma Line to Kitaoji Station.
There is a bus terminal adjacent to Kitaoji Station. From there, take the No. 204, 205 bus bound for Kinkaku-ji Temple (the Golden Pavilion). There are two bus stops at Kitaoji Bus Terminal, the """"Red Bus Stop"""" (A to C) and the """"Blue Bus Stop"""" (E to G), and buses bound for Kinkaku-ji Temple (the Golden Pavilion) depart from the """"Blue Bus Stop"""". You will arrive at the Kinkakuji-michi (Kinkakuji Temple) bus stop in about 11 minutes.
It is about a 5 minute walk from the bus stop to the entrance of Kinkaku-ji Temple (the Golden Pavilion).
*On weekends and holidays, the City Bus 102 (Rakuraku Kinkaku-ji Temple /Ginkaku-ji Temple Line) is running. Also, City Bus 109 (Rakuraku Kinkaku-ji/Arashiyama Line) will be in service during late April - early May and the peak season in autumn.

For those using JR Line, you can also go to JR Enmachi Station and take the city bus 204 or 205. However, please note that you may not be able to board the bus during the tourist season.
The No. 205 bus departs from Kyoto Station and is labeled "for Kinkaku-ji Temple (the Golden Pavilion)," which may seem convenient at first glance, but it takes a very long time to get to Kinkaku-ji Temple (the Golden Pavilion) because of the many stops and congestion on the buses. Use it in conjunction with the subway.
■Access from Shijo Kawaramachi (Hankyu Kyoto Kawaramachi Station)
From Kyoto Kawaramachi Station, take the Hankyu Kyoto Main Line one stop to Karasuma Station, where you can transfer to the subway Karasuma Line.
From there, the route is the same as the route from Kyoto Station above.
For those who want to experience the bustle of downtown Shijo and those who like walking, walking from Shijo Kawaramachi to Shijo Station on the Subway Karasuma Line is also recommended. It takes about 13 minutes on foot.
If you use the Shijo Underpass, you can walk smoothly and avoid crowds and waiting at traffic lights.
Avoid taking the city bus from Shijo Kawaramachi, as it is also time consuming.
