The world's first AI-operated tax-free vending machine has been installed at the shop found inside the Former Imperial Villa Nijo-jo Castle. It is equipped with an unmanned, duty-free sales function that allows for automated tax exemeption as well as a multilangual avatar. *For limited time only.

The vending machine sells Kyoto handicrafts and Nijo Castle's original products. It automatically completes the tax-free eligibility procedures by utilizing its facial recognition technology to verify customers and their passport.
