Monthly Data Report on Kyoto’s Tourism Market Trends (August 2026)

Since April 2014, the Kyoto City Tourism Association (DMO KYOTO) has been compiling and publishing monthly reports analyzing Kyoto’s tourism market trends.

These reports summarize key performance indicators, including accommodation data from major hotels and ryokan (traditional Japanese inns) within the city, as well as sales figures from duty-free shops at local department stores.

The report for August 2026 was just released, and its data was based on a sample of 116 major hotels and 22 ryokan. The results are as follows:

• The Occupancy Rate was 74.9%, down 1.0 percentage points YOY.
• The Average Daily Rate (ADR) was 17,272 JPY, a 0.3% decrease YOY.
• The Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) was 12,937 JPY, a 1.6% decrease YOY.
