Since April 2014, the Kyoto City Tourism Association (DMO KYOTO) has been compiling and publishing monthly reports analyzing Kyoto’s tourism market trends.
These reports summarize key performance indicators, including accommodation data from major hotels and ryokan (traditional Japanese inns) within the city, as well as sales figures from duty-free shops at local department stores.
The report for June 2026 was just released, and its data was based on a sample of 118 major hotels and 21 ryokan. Its results are as follows:
- The Occupancy Rate was 78.9%, down 0.9 percentage points YOY.
- The Average Daily Rate (ADR) was 16,854 JPY, a 0.9% decrease YOY. This is the first time in five months that figures have fallen below previous year levels.
- The Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) was 13,298 JPY, a 2.0% decrease YOY.
