The Lake Biwa Canal is a 7.8 km-long, man-made waterway channelling the abundant water of Lake Biwa to Kyoto and is an important industrial heritage site for the city. In recent years, a sightseeing cruise service was started in order to allow visitors a unique and first-hand experience with the history and scenery of the canal.

Cruise schedule: The cruise will operate for 47 days between October 3rd (Thu) and November 30th (Sat), 2024.

*The popular "Biwako-Otsu Port Line" will be available for 7 days, around the same time as when the changing fall foliage is at its most beautiful; from November 21st (Thu) to November 24th (Sun) and from November 28th (Thu) to November 30th (Thu).
