Golden Week (4/27 ~ 5/6) is Japan's spring break season that combines together a number of national holidays to form one long vacation period. 

This time is thus well-known for bringing large amount of tourists to each part of the country and especially to spots that are already popular.

In anticipation of the oncoming crowds many places establish additional guidelines to follow during this season.

 

One such important change is going to be implemented onto Shinkansen trains.

During the busiest days of this season (4/26 ~ 5/6), all seats on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen Nozomi trains will be operated as reserved seats only. 

Customers who would like to use the Nozomi train during this time are asked to purchase the reserved seat tickets in advance.
