Saga/Arashiyama
■Access from Kyoto Station
It is most convenient to use the JR Sagano Line. Please note that the Sagano Line platform at Kyoto Station is further away than other lines.
Also, since the cars in front of the platform are crowded, please board from the back of the platform.
Rapid and local trains stop at Saga-Arashiyama Station, which takes about 11 minutes. (by Rapid Service)
After arriving at Saga-Arashiyama Station, it is about an 8-minute walk to the area where the Togetsu-kyo Bridge is located.
From JR Saga-Arashiyama Station, follow the signs and walk straight past the viaduct to join Arashiyama's main street (Nagatsuji-dori Street) leading to the Togetsu-kyo Bridge.
A 4-minute walk down the main street will take you to the Togetsu-kyo Bridge. Be careful not to stray from the sidewalk, as this road is very busy.
While the JR Sagano Line is fast, it is crowded. For comfortable travel, go to Karasuma Oike Station via Subway Karasuma Line then transfer to Tozai Line and get off at the final stop of the West, Uzumasa Tenjingawa Station.
Another recommended route is to transfer to the Keifuku Railway (Randen) from there and go to the final stop, Arashiyama Station.
Traveling by bus from Kyoto Station is not only crowded but also time-consuming.
■Access from Shijo Kawaramachi (Hankyu Kyoto Kawaramachi Station)
After getting on the Hankyu Kyoto Line. the first thing to do is head towards Katsura Station. From Katsura Station, transfer to the Hankyu Arashiyama Line and get off at the last stop, Arashiyama Station.
When you exit the station square to the right and follow the road, you will see a day spa facility. Continue onto the road next to the park and cross the arched bridge.
After crossing arched bridge, turn left and proceed until you see Togetsu-kyo Bridge.
The route using the Keifuku Railway(Randen) Arashiyama Main Line (Randen), which runs partly on the road surface, is also very atmospheric.
Board the train at Hankyu Kyoto Kawaramachi Station and get off at Shijo-Omiya Station. Once you board the Keifuku Line, head towards Arashiyama while enjoying the atmospheric scenery of Kyoto seen from the train window.
After exiting the terminal of Keifuku Arashiyama Station, turn left and walk for about 4 minutes to reach the Togetsu-kyo Bridge.
City Bus No. 11 from Shijo Kawaramachi goes via Shijo-dori, which tends to be constantly congested. It is wise to avoid this as much as possible as it may affect your valuable sightseeing time.
