Every year from July through September, a number of temples, shrines and other cultural sites in Kyoto hold special opening events. A different theme is chosen each time. This year’s event will focus on the legacy of the Toyotomi Family and Warring States period (15th–16th century) warlords, as well as modern architecture in Kyoto.
A number of important cultural properties related to this year’s theme will be available for visits, including locations which normally remain closed to the public.
Special nighttime openings and illuminations will be organized as well, helping visitors avoid the heat while sightseeing.
Take part in the “Kyoto Summer Special Openings” to experience the unique charm of this city and its historical sites during the summer months!
