Heat prevention campaign during summer in Kyoto

In Kyoto City, about 1,000 are hospitalized each year due to heatstroke. Tourists are particularly at risk since they spend a lot of time outdoors.

To ensure that everyone who visits Kyoto will enjoy their visit while paying mutual respect to each other and help keep tourism sustainable into the future, Kyoto City has established the "Kyoto Guidelines for Sustainable Tourism". Heatstroke-related emergency transport also places unnecessary strain on local medical services. Taking simple precautions not only protects your life but it also helps ease the burden of emergency care in the community. Enjoy the summer in Kyoto while following its guidelines.

What are the "Kyoto Guidelines for Sustainable Tourism"?

A code of conduct established by Kyoto City and the Kyoto City Tourism Association in order to promote mutual respect, cooperation and sustainability between everyone involved in tourism in Kyoto. Its aim is to help tourists, businesses and citizens work together and preserve Kyoto for the future while protecting its unique beauty and culture.

Cooling support given to the visitors of "Kyoto's Summer Special Openings"

A heat-prevention campaign coinciding with the "Kyoto Summer Special Openings" will be held this year! During it, 200 people will be given heat-prevention goods each day on a first-come first-served basis at each of the designated locations (amounting to 20,000 people in total).

You can receive the following goods in exchange for the stub of your admission ticket to the 2025 "Kyoto Summer Special Openings".

"Kyoto Guidelines for Sustainable Tourism" promote actions that are dedicated towards creating sustainable tourism in Kyoto, as well as mutual respect between everyone involved in the tourism in the city.
