The 59th Kyoto Winter Special Openings

The Kyoto Winter Special Openings is a program allowing visitors to enter temples, shrines and other historical buildings of cultural importance that are usually unavailable to the public. Each year this event is carried out according to different themes.

The themes for this year are: "30th anniversary of UNESCO World Heritage registration" and "20th anniversary of the revival of the Pilgrimage of Thirty-Three Sites of Kannon Worship in Kyoto."

Event period: January 10th (Fri) - March 18th (Tue), 2025

Many famous temples, including World Heritage Sites such as Kinkaku-ji Temple, Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Ginkaku-ji Temple will be organizing special openings.
