Yamashina

Yamashina is the eastern gateway to Kyoto, rich in nature, surrounded by beautiful mountains including the Higashiyama mountain range. The area is attractive to history lovers as there are many Paleolithic ruins dating back about 25,000 years and temples with various legends. The town is also known for its Kiyomizu-yaki ceramics, Kyoto fans, and other handicrafts.

●Bishamondo Temple
One of the five important Tendai sect temples in Kyoto. The main deity of this temple is believed to be beneficial for business success and family safety. The temple is decorated with cherry blossoms in the spring and autumn leaves in the fall."

●Zuishin-in Temple
This temple is associated with Ono no Komachi, one of the three most beautiful women in the world. Ruins related to Komachi remain at the temple. The temple is also famous for its ""hanezu plum blossoms""(double-petaled plum blossoms).

 
●Yamashina Canal
Where the Lake Biwa Canal runs through Yamashina area, cherry blossoms and rape blossoms in the spring and autumn leaves in the fall adorn the riverside.
