The Kyoto City Museum of Art, currently being renovated, will reopen as the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art on March 21, 2020. Large-scale renovations by architects Jun Aoki and Tezzo Nishizawa introduce a new chapter in Kyotoʼs history of culture and art.

Also, architect Jun Aoki has been appointed as director of the Kyoto City Museum of Art (the Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art), effective April 1, 2019. Aoki has been deeply involved in the Museum renewal project since its earliest design stage.
