Kaomise is the festive Kabuki production starring all of famous Kabuki actors in Japan. It is held in every end of the year as one of the well-known annual events in Kyoto.
Kabuki is well-known all over the world as the Japanese traditional theatre form that is performed exclusively by men.
Its stages entrance audiences by many remarkable features, such as elaborately designed Kimono costumes, eye-catching make-up, outlandish wigs, moving stories, and the exaggerated actions and beautiful Japanese dances.
This month's performances will commemorate the 400th year since the founding of the Minamiza Theatre, the reopening of the Minamiza Theatre and the Name Succession of Matsumoto Hakuō II, his son Matsumoto Kōshirō X, and his grandson Ichikawa Somegorō VIII.
