JOYA NO KANE(Bells for the New Year)

Welcoming the New Year is one of the most important annual events. December 31 is called omisoka, and temple bells are rung one hundred and eight times at midnight as the year changes. At the beginning of the year, many visit shrines or temples to express gratitude for the previous year and wish for a good year ahead.
We added a list of temples that ring the bell on New Year’s eve: Joya no kane.
