A whole host of Kyoto's traditional industries!
This event is held on the Spring Equinox, a day in Kyoto that is also a "Day of Traditional Industries." During the two days of the event, Kyoto's master craftsmen, mid-level artisans, and aspiring young artisans working in rare fields will all gather together in one space. Charity auctions will be held simultaneously for newly-created yuzen (a traditional cloth-dying technique) pieces and kimono. Aside from exhibitions of the pieces, there will also be hands-on corners to experience techniques yourself. Additionally, at the "Kyo-Kimono Festival," you'll find unique Kyoto works of art, as well as products from famous sellers of traditional Japanese sweets (wagashi), pickled vegetables (tsukemono), sake, and more for sale. There will also be an experience center for parents and children, dance performances from maiko (apprentice geisha), a talk show from a chef, and other stage events.
