In this traditional ceremony, hot water is prepared in a cauldron with an inscription from the 6th year of the Bunkei Era (1823). A shrine maiden then uses bamboo stalks to vigorously scatter the water, to sweep away evil spirits and to pray for good health. After the ceremony, similar bamboo stalks will be sold for good fortune (fee required).
