Miyagawa-cho District Mizue-kai Traditional Dances

In autumn, each of Kyoto’s kagai (geiko and maiko districts) come alive with excitement for their annual dance performances. Practices begin in spring, and autumn performances in each kagai mark the end of a year. These captivating dances are exquisitely performed and are popular amongst connoisseurs and regular viewers alike.
The Mizue-kai was brought back in 2006 after an absence of 35 years, and displays the results of the dancers' painstaking practice. The main performance will be followed by a group dance set to the music of "Miyagawa Ko-uta," whose melody is filled with all the seasonal charms of the Miyagawa-cho District. Come enjoy an elegant performance of Japanese classics, performed by maiko and geiko who have trained diligently all year for this recital.
