Miyagawa-cho District Mizue-kai Traditional Dances

In autumn, each of Kyoto’s kagai (geiko and maiko districts) come alive with excitement for their annual dance performances. Practices begin in spring, and autumn performances in each kagai mark the end of a year. These captivating dances are exquisitely performed and are popular amongst connoisseurs and regular viewers alike.
Pieces for the Mizue-kai are selected from the Japanese classics, and the skill of the dancers’ technique makes this performance popular every year.
