JR-West’s “Kansai Area Pass” will Become More Convenient for Tourists to Kyoto

JR-West’s “Kansai Area Pass” will become more convenient and economical for international tourists visiting Kyoto via Kansai Airport.

Starting October 1, 2019, the Kansai Area Pass, which is currently available for JR trains and buses in the Kansai region, will also include a one-day pass for the Kyoto City Subway, Keihan Railway and Hankyu Railway.
With this new pass, tourists will be able to not only take the Kansai Airport Express “Haruka” to Kyoto, but also visit Kyoto’s major sightseeing spots, such as Kiyomizudera Temple, Nijo Castle, Fushimi Inari Shrine, the Imperial Palace, Gion, Arashiyama, and Nishiki Market without having to worry about traffic.
The “Kansai Area Pass” is a cost-effective alternative to buying individual tickets, as shown in the chart below (price for a one-way non-reserved ticket for “Haruka” between Kansai Airport and Kyoto: 2,770 yen).
<Prices (from Dec.1st,2020)> (When purchased at a JR West Station)*Children: half-price
1-day: 2,400 Yen, 2-day: 4,600 Yen, 3-day: 5,600 Yen, 4-day: 6,800 Yen
